September Meeting 2006 Heading

 

  • Chairman Tony Mills welcomed 39 members to the first meeting of 2007.
  • The branch currently has 152 paid-up members, the highest for many years.
  • Bill Bombroff suffered a heart attack on New Year’s Day which was also his birthday and had been in a serious condition. He is now home and resting before a further operation in about 3 weeks time. He thanked everyone for their good wishes and sends greetings to members.
  • Promotion candidates were reminded they must inform Colin Harris immediately of all their fixtures, any changes and postponements; contacting him by e-mail up to the end of Friday, or on his home phone on Saturday morning.
  • Following a recent match incident, members are reminded they must take the appropriate action regarding racial abuse and also report it in full to the league and the County FA.
  • A County darts tournament for the Boxall Cup will take place on Saturday 17 March at the Gala Club, Gloucester. Players for the Bristol team are required and anyone interested should contact Andrew Kennedy.
  • The Regional quiz, at which Bristol will represent the County, is on Sunday 4 March 2.00pm., at Bridgwater Sports & Social Club. Those interested in taking part should contact Andrew Kennedy or Peter Colley.
  • Forest branch are holding their dinner-dance on 21 April. Tickets are available at £10 each and anyone interested should contact Colin Harris or Andrew Kennedy.
  • Tickets are available for the National Draw, with cash prizes up to £5000. 50% of the proceeds from sales come back to the branch and anyone able to take some books to sell can contact Andrew Kennedy or Peter Colley.
  • Members were reminded that nominations for Officers and Proposed Branch Rule Changes must be submitted in writing to the Secretary, Colin Harris, by 20 March.
  • The Training Topic for this month was Colour Clashes.
  • The Guest Speaker was Bristol City Manager Gary Johnson, who for over an hour gave honest and interesting responses to questions from members on all aspects of football.
  • The next meeting will be on Thursday 8 February when the Guest Speaker will be Clive Wilkes.
