March Meeting 2007 Heading

 

  • There were 32 members present.
  • Chairman Tony Mills welcomed back Bill Bombroff after his illness. He also extended a warm welcome to a new member Zoltan Szilagyi from Hungary.
  • There are 154 paid-up members plus 1 associate.
  • Letters are being dispatched inviting subscriptions for next season which are payable from 1 April. Prompt payment is essential as the insurance cover expires on that date. Payment before 1 June will be at the current rate of £18 regardless of any increase adopted at the AGM.
  • A nomination form for election to the RAE Board has been received and further details can be obtained from Colin Harris.
  • Details are available of the RA Conference at Warwick on the weekend 8-10 June. The Saturday will largely consist of instructional workshops led by the likes of Messrs. Bennett, Riley, Clattenberg and Webb. It will be an excellent day and anyone interested should contact Colin Harris or Tony Mills.
  • The Centenary Conference has been provisionally booked for Wembley Stadium on 11/12 July 2008.
  • Spare Copies are available of the latest FA/RA magazine which was issued before Christmas.
  • The Bristol team comprising Peter Colley, John Colley, Steve Green and Allan Mills came second in the Regional Quiz to the Bridgwater team representing Somerset. These two will represent the region in the final at Coventry on 29 April. Steve Green scored 26 out of a maximum 28 points.
  • Members appointed to GFA Cup Finals were congratulated.
  • A reminder was given that anyone seeking promotion next season should write to Ken Fry. There are no longer any age barriers, with nothing to lose and everything to gain by applying.
  • There are plenty of National Draw tickets for sale. Cash prizes go up to £5,000 and the branch receives 50% of the proceeds of tickets sold. Contact Andrew Kennedy.
  • Colin Harris reminded members that we are approaching the busiest time of the football season – see Training Topic.
  • Guest Speaker Ray Olivier provided a most interesting presentation on Player Management. This contained plenty of sound advice for everyone and Ray answered plenty of questions from members.
