October Meeting header

 

The key points of the October Bristol RA Branch meeting were as follows:

  • There were 29 members present.
  • The branch now has 146 full members and 2 guest members.
  • There are 3 vacancies to be filled on the Board of the RAE and there are 4 candidates, including Colin Harris from Bristol. All members are urged to cast their vote. To see the information on the candidates that are currenly running for election please downloaded here. Voting Forms are also available to download. When completed please return them to either Chris Cordy or Tony Mills by 8th November 2007.
  • Any errors in the GFA handbook should be reported to the office at Oaklands Park by phone or e-mail.
  • Referees should reject any approach from the UKIFF 6-a-side competition or any other that is not affiliated.
  • A number of promotion candidates are still not submitting their fixtures. These must be advised without delay to Colin Harris, along with any subsequent changes.
  • Any registered assessors who are available on a Sunday morning are asked to contact Colin Harris.
  • Bristol branch will represent Gloucestershire in the Regional competition of the RA Quiz. This is expected to take place in March and there will be a branch quiz at the February meeting to select our team.
  • Although the attendance was low, the Young Referees meeting appeared successful and it is hoped to repeat this later in the season.
  • As always, a good supply of kit is available and can normally be obtained within 7 days of ordering through Steve Moore.
  • There is a course for referee instructors in December and anyone interested in getting involved in this very rewarding area is asked to contact Colin Harris.
  • The training section of the meeting again referred to the referee’s responsibilities with regard to safety of players and goalposts. Other areas covered included substitutions and disciplinary reporting. For more information please see the training section.
  • Guest Speaker Roger Vaughan, gave a very interesting and informative presentation entitled ‘Card or not to Card’. To see a summary of his presentation please download here.
  • The next meeting is on Thursday 8th November when the Guest Speaker is Gary Willard who is an ex-FIFA Referee and now Group Assessor, PGMOL Coach and Liaison Officer for Chelsea FC.
